RFID - Radio Frequency IDentification tags are here, right out of an Orwellian novel. What started out as a huge cost saving effort by manufacturers and retailers is now your worst nightmare. These RFID tags are being put on everything from your shoes, clothing, credit cards, passports to televisions and automobiles. "Readers" or scanners can read these tags from up to 10 feet away and not even touch you to gain your very private and secure information. These readers are in doorways, floors, checkout counters, etc.

Corporations and Government (and thieves) are using these readers to gain information about you, your buying habits, your whereabouts and your general movement of daily activities. These RFID tags are the demise of society as we know it. Sound scary? Well, it is. And its happening right now! It's a 23 trillion dollar industry in 2006 alone and it is just the beginning. Sure RFID tags have good points like tracking newborn babies, medications to the right patients but the downside, woaaa, your identity would be gone in a split second with a swipe of a reader.
