RADAR AND LASER JAMMERS AND DETECTORS
First Legal RADAR and LASER JAMMERS on the Market!
F. A. Q.
Q: What is the range of these Jammers?
A: On the radar side, you are good 2 to 3 miles depending on the terrain. On the laser side, by federal law they have to hit you within 2,000 feet and no more than 20 degrees off bore center (basically a 40 degree angle cone) and we cover up to a 35 degree angle off bore center (a 70 degree cone).
Q: Do they cover you 360 degrees, front and rear?
A: Our detectors cover 360 degrees but our jammers cover 180 degrees in the direction they are facing. You can get an additional remote jamming sensor (RS202) for the rear. For complete 360 degree protection.
Q: Can the police get you from the sides?
A: NO, they can't get a doppler shift from the sides. If they are hitting you from the sides, you are not moving away or towards the gun so they cannot measure a change in distance per time. Just the front or rear or an angle there of.
Q: Do the police know you are jamming them?
A: No. What we do is blank out his display (blank reading). If you have ever used a radar gun before, you know they go blank a lot. So, he'll just keep hitting you and hitting you, and you need to know this, so you can let your foot off the gas. (de-accelerate).
Q: Do these Jammers cover everything that is out there, will I need to upgrade later on?
A: Yes, all frequencies and no, you won't need to upgrade. We cover everything that the FCC allows the police to use. On the radar side, we cover between 7 GHz and 38 GHz. On the laser side, we scramble his laser beam by changing the light's pulse width, so if they ever come out with anything new, we cover it and you won't have to upgrade. (Our Scramblers cover European frequencies as well)
Q: Does the Jammer let you know you are being hit?
A: No, it is on all the time and always jamming but it won't go off like a detector will. This is why we still recommend using a detector with our Jammer only units or better yet, just get our detector/jammer combo units.
Q: Where do these Jammers mount on the vehicle?
A: Our units come with their own windshield mount and you need to mount them high and in the center for best performance. We recommend snuggling them up to the rearview mirror. Make sure to keep them below the factory tint that runs across the top of the windshield. The tint will degrade the laser portion. We recommend mounting the remote units by the license plates for best protection against laser hits. They need to be kept flat and level and with no obstructions.
Q: What about falsing? Do your detectors go off on garage door openers, banks and supermarkets?
A: No, our detectors have a City button where you can press when in a congested areas picking up errant signals. We have designed our detectors so the X-band shuts off after so many irregular hits. (X-band is where most of the falsing occurs)
Q: Can I just go speeding past the police with these Jammers?
A: No. Even if the Police can't get a reading on you and visually sees you speeding, he'll come after you anyway. They don't need a reading to pull you over, they have that so-called trained eye and can guesstimate the speed you are doing. When our detector goes off, just let your foot off and coast into him. After you have passed resume.
Q: Do I really need a detector when I have a Jammer?
A: Yes, you need to know where they are at. The police could be hiding in the bushes and just hitting you and hitting you and you need to know that. You want to be letting your foot off the accelerator. Because as you get closer there is still that chance of getting caught. It's called "Punch-Thru" and all Jammers have it, it's the nature of the beast and you can't get around it.
Q: What is "Punch-Thru"?
A: It's when you get close to the radar gun, there is still that chance of being picked up. His signals get stronger and your vehicles' surfaces get larger and it just wants to bleed through. At any given instant, the radar gun is bombarding you with a million microwave signals and it only takes one signal to bleed through. The best defense against Punch-Thru is to just let your foot off and de-accelerate into the gun. This makes it more difficult for them to get a reading. DO NOT HIT THE BRAKES! The police look for your nose to dip and for the brake lights. This is enough proof for them to pull you over.
Q: Are active Jammers better than passive Jammers?
A: No, active Jammers (transmitters) are illegal and only cover the X and K bands. They don't cover Ka. The police know you have them, and they set off all detectors around you. Passive Jammers will not set off detectors, and will cover Ka bands (Photo radar, Stalker, etc).
Q: Does the color and shape of your vehicle matter?
A: Yes, to some extent. The larger the vehicle, the larger the surface area to get a reflection off of. For a mid-size vehicle, your Punch-Thru distance is roughly 100 feet. For a tractor trailer, it is roughly 200 feet. When you get within that distance, it's a 50/50 chance. They won't get you all the time. Lower profile vehicles are best. As for color, white and silver are your worst colors. They are just like mirrors and give the police a better surface to get a reflection off of. Dark colors are best.
Q: Are these Jammers undetectable?
A: Yes, they are receivers and the police can't tell you have them. They can suspect but won't know for sure. The detector on the combo units are also VG-2/VG-3 (detector detectors) undetectable.
Q: What is VG-2/VG-3?
A: VG-2/VG-3 are guns (detector detectors) the police use to tell them you've got a detector. For personal cars, you really don't need to worry about it except in Virginia and Washington, DC. But for commercial drivers this is important to have. How the VG-2/VG-3 guns work is; the gun measures the leakage off of your detector and what we do is control that leakage. You can't eliminate all leakage and over a period of time some leakage will be detected. So, for you truckers out there, take them down and unplug them when going across the scales!
Q: How are these Jammers legal?
A: Our Jammers are receivers and not transmitters. The FCC has no laws against receivers! Rocky Mountain Radar has the only Radar Jammers on the market that are legal (at the Federal Level).
Q: What is the warranty on Rocky Mountain Radar Jammers?
A: 36 Month Repair/Replace Factory Warranty for our Jammers (and combos) and 12 month Factory Warranty for our detector only units. If something does go wrong with our Jammer/Detectors during that time, we will repair or replace it free, just send in to the manufacturer along with your receipt for verification of purchase.
